Islam, Atheism and other Non-Protestant Religions
The first and most serious mistake that Islam and other non Protestant religions, including atheism, make, is that they deny the extent of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.
After the fall it was impossible for man to re-enter the Garden of Eden or paradise. This is because man became a sinner and unable to do good. This is the doctrine called total depravity, not meaning that many is totally evil but that every area of his being is affected by the fall and therefore he is unable to please God.
Therefore no religious practices can make us right with God. Adam attempted to clothe himself in fig leaves but it was no good. Abraham was only justified by faith. In the fullness of time Jesus Christ came and died for sin and through faith in him there is everlasting life, righteousness which we could never earn. The Jews made the mistake of trying to achieve their own righteousness but it is impossible. Islam makes the same fundamental error as does the Roman Catholic Church. Rather we must look to Jesus Christ to be saved
